Government allows use of Environmental Guard recordings as court evidence
Videos recorded by the National Environmental Guard can be used as evidence in court
At the proposal of the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests, the Government approved an Emergency Ordinance amending Government Emergency Ordinance No. 17/2005 regarding organizational measures in the central public administration.
According to the amendments, the actions of commissioners and staff of the National Environmental Guard in public spaces, as well as in private spaces where activities with a potential environmental impact take place, and/or where there are suspicions of acts that may cause environmental damage, may be recorded with the photo-audio-video equipment provided, without the consent of the persons concerned. These recordings can be used as evidence in court.
